The Short Answer

How Does a Challenge Coin Fundraiser Work?

There are two ways to run one. Place a traditional order: pay a mold fee and order coins at full price. Sell them to your community at $15-$25 each and keep the difference.

Or run an In-service Unit Drop with zero money up front: we open a private order page for your unit, each member buys their own coin at the price you set, and raise funds from every coin sold. If the minimum isn't reached, every card is refunded automatically.

Academy classes, police associations, honor guards, and fire crews use coin sales to fund graduations, memorials, equipment, and community events. No platform or service fees.

Fundraiser Questions, Answered

Does anyone have to front money for a Unit Drop?

No. Nobody pays for anyone else's coin. We open a private order page, each member buys their own at $20 or $25 (you set the price), and production starts once the ordering window closes and 40 coins are ordered. The only path that requires upfront money is the traditional bulk order.

What happens if we don't reach the minimum?

Every card is refunded automatically and in full. Fundraiser orders need 40 coins ordered. Threshold protection is built into every Unit Drop, so there is no scenario where your people pay for coins that never get made.

How does our unit receive the fundraiser money?

In a Unit Drop, your unit keeps $5 of every $20 coin sold or $10 of every $25 coin sold. The total is transferred to your unit immediately after the order window closes. Payments can be made via Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or other preferred methods.

How much can an academy class realistically raise?

Traditional bulk orders raise the most: 500 coins at a $20 sell price clears about $7,375 after costs. A Unit Drop as a fundraiser raises $5-$10 per coin with no work and no risk, so 100 to 300 coins returns $500 to $3,000. Coins sell best to classmates, family, cadre, and alumni around graduation.

Do you take a cut or charge platform fees?

No. On bulk orders you pay the published per-coin price and keep 100% of what you sell them for. On Unit Drops the prices are flat at $20 and $25, the fundraiser share passes through to your unit in full, and shipping to your organizer is free. Orders are subject to local tax only which does not affect your funds raised.

Can members get their coin mailed directly to them?

Yes. The default is free delivery in one box to your organizer for handout. Anyone who would rather have theirs mailed directly adds $7 at checkout and it ships to their door.

When should we start to have coins before graduation?

Start about 8 weeks out. New designs take 3 to 5 weeks from approved artwork to delivery, and the buffer covers design revisions and your order window. The full breakdown is in our timeline guide.

Is there a minimum order?

Unit Drops have a 40 coin minimum. Standard custom orders outside fundraising have no minimum at all.
