The Name
It Started with a Piece of Paper on a Clipboard
At our agency, every shift starts with the In-service: the roster of who is working. You find old ones in file boxes and gear bags, and they take you right back. The people, the shift, the calls that shaped you.
We named the company after that feeling, and we build things meant to hold onto it. Not novelty. Not mass-produced merch. Something worth putting in a shadow box and keeping for the rest of your career, like the academy coins we have built for LASD and participating agencies.
Where We Started
Before the Coins, There Were Patches
In-service did not start as a coin company. It started in the LASD Pink Patch Project, the breast cancer awareness effort where deputies trade their standard patch for a pink one every October.
One of our founders helped create the LASD pink patch and helped lead that effort. Making something people were proud to wear, carry, and keep is what became In-service. The cause still matters to us, and so does the standard it set: if someone is going to carry it, it had better mean something.
What We're About
Focused on Purpose
We don't carry a vast catalog of products, designs, and finishes. After years of working with countless manufacturers for dozens of units, we've identified the highest quality coins and finishes in the industry, and we stay true to them. Every piece is hand inspected before it ships, because these aren't promotional items to us. They're memories, made to be passed down.
Quality
Hard enamel, custom molds, finishes we'd put our own names on. We build custom coins meant to last decades in a shadow box, not end up in a junk drawer.
Design
One of our co-founders is a designer. Bring a sketch, a blurry photo, or just a concept, and we build the artwork, send proofs, and revise until it is right. Nothing goes to production until you say so.
Background
We came up in law enforcement, so we know what these pieces carry: the units, the classes, the milestones, the people you came up with and the ones you lost. That context shapes everything we make.
Why It Matters
A coin or a patch is recognition you can hold. Most of this work goes unseen, and the things you keep are how it gets remembered. That is the part we never take lightly.
